Davis fund-raiser brings in $10,000

Supporters of DeSoto County Chancery Clerk W. E. "Sluggo" Davis chipped in about $10,000 for his re-election campaign during a fund-raiser Thursday at Timbeaux's on the Square in Hernando.
Commercial real estate agent and Timbeaux's owner Chuck Roberts organized the luncheon, which drew about 50 people.
Davis said it was his first fund-raiser.
"I was very pleased, very gratified," he said.
Davis has opposition for the first time since 1987, when he won the first of five terms.
Political newcomer John T. Arnold of Southaven, an accounting services executive, is also campaigning for the Republican Party nomination in the Aug. 7 primary.
